The Proposal(s)

So, I got pretty lucky. Andrew technically proposed twice.

The first time was a little after a year since we'd first starting dating. We went out to dinner at one of our favorite places before heading to RCIA at our church. On the walk to the church we took a detour to walk past the Old Well, the symbol of UNC. Andrew got down on one knee and proposed. I had helped pick out the ring, a bezel set orange sapphire, a few weeks before. But I didn't know the ring was done. It was perfect. Then we got to go to RCIA and tell all our friends there.

Later on, my brother gave me my grandmother's diamond that he had inherited. He thought it would mean more to me than any girl he could give it to. We realized that I had come enough under budget on the rest of the wedding that we were able to have the diamond set for me to wear. We went and picked out the setting together, but again I left it to Andrew to pick up.

He decided to propose again. Right before our second Christmas together he took me out to this amazing french restaurant that we love. After an amazing meal he proposed. Right afterward a couple came over to talk to us. It was their 60th wedding anniversary. We had an incredible conversation with them about love and marriage. We only hope we are as lucky as them.
